Navarro Vineyard and Winery
Navarro has been said to have the best Gewurztraminer and Riesling, not just in California, but across the country. They also have amazing Pinot Noirs. The winery has also recently started venturing into cheese making at the Pennyroyal Farm to give guest and all-round experience when they visit this pristine location.
Brewer-Clifton Winery
Admission to this vineyard goes for $20 per head, which includes complimentary cheese pairings. Here, you will be able to taste through six Pinot Noirs and Santa Rita Hills Chardonnays. However, guests also have an opportunity to try older vintages that will give them an idea of how bottles and terroir influence the quality of the wine. This winery has a 4.9 rating on Google Reviews, which only confirms the quality of their wine and services.
Donkey and Goat Winery
This winery is managed by Tracey and Jared Brandt who source their grapes from El Dorado County, which they use to make their popular natural wines using old-school winemaking methods. Note, however, unlike most wineries, Donkey and Goat is only open to the public Friday through Sundays and if you get there early enough, you will get to sample the wines with the owners themselves.
Palmina Winery
Palmina is owned by Steve Clifton, who also owns the Brewer-Clifton Winery, and his wife, Chrystal. This winery was inspired by the couple’s preference for Italian wine and it just so happens that a wide range of Italian grapes grows in Santa Barbara, for example Arneis and Dolcetto. Bring refillable bottles because wines are available on tap and you will definitely feel the urge to carry your favorite sample home with you. They also have other Italian products on-site that you may be interested in, including olive oil and vinegar.
Justin Vineyard and Winery
Recently renovated to give the tasting room a modernized room, the old farmhouse-style setting has been replaced with a zinc-topped bar. There is also an outdoor tasting bar if you would like a little bit of fresh air as you sample their delicious wines. Justin winery also has a kitchen in case you feel hungry, where you can grab some scrumptious lamb tacos that go well with the red wine.
Qupe Winery
This is the oldest winery in Santa Barbara. Founded by Bob Lindquist, this winery has been in operation since the 1970s. Qupe shares a tasting room with Ethan Wines, which was founded in Los Olivos by Bob’s son, Ethan. This makes winetasting a little more interesting here since you can compare the crafts of both father and son.
